May 2018 Meeting Notes

The meeting was called to order by President Ritchie Farrell. The minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Brenda Lagasse reported the checking and savings. Several members paid their dues. The Associate Membership price will be reviewed at the annual meeting.

Old Business

We will purchase benches with the memorial money from Jim Larsen’s funeral.

Activities

EKHA Horse Show (June 23 & 24) we need a tractor driver and Donna Barleen volunteered to organize the concession stand. She will need helpers.

Fireworks/Ice Cream Social/Monthly Meeting is July 3.

NCK Rodeo is July 25 & 26.

Kyra Memorial Roping and Barrel Race will be August 11.

Open Horse Show is July 22.

New Business

Denise Bauman contacted Ritchie Farrell about having on Monday, July 23. Lance Lagasse made a motion to allow them to use the arena, but strongly recommend that they run the 4-H with the Open Show. Eric Voss seconded with one objection the motion passed.

Ed McCarty will be here July 7. Maybe have Andy Asch attend.

Emma Losh asked if Miss Rodeo Kansas, herself, and Lil Miss come to the Rodeo and sign photographs, push cattle, fly-bys, and radio spots to promote the sport of Rodeo. Susan Sterling made the motion, Eric seconded it, and the motion passed.

The American Legion is interested in running the concession stand at the Rodeo for $500 and have a section for a beer garden. Aggie Moore made a motion to have the American Legion have the concession stand and fenced off beer garden for $500 and sign a release for liability.

Lance found a Rodeo Entertainer for the Rodeo, Greg Harold, for the same price as last year. Lance Lagasse made the motion to hire Greg Harold for the same price as last year. Eric Voss seconded and the motion passed.

Work night scheduled for May 15.
