July 2023 Meeting Notes

Minutes July 3, 2023

The meeting was called to order by President Ritchie Farrell.  Secretary Marleen Parker gave the minutes of the June meeting, which were approved as read. monthly news. Treasurer Brenda Lagasse gave the Treasurer’s report, which was approved as read.

Committee Reports:

Activities:  Ice cream social and fireworks to follow this meeting. Donna reschedule viewed the Activities schedule.

Rodeo: Sponsorship money continues to come in. Lance and Brenda will provide the calves for the calf scramble and cows for the wild cow milking. We will need a clean up crew after the rodeo both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Ritchie is looking for hay for the stock contractors animals, will need about 25 bales total. Lance has 10-12 bales oat hay to donate. We need help for the Concession stand on both Friday and Saturday nights. The south concession stand will need to be open until after the slack on Friday night. Charlie and Laura will do the “Ragged Old Flag” closing ceremony again both nights. The lights will need to be left on Friday night, as the slack will commence immediately following the Rodeo. The lights, when turned off, take 15-20 minutes to reach full brightness again. Grand Entry Practice will be Thursday night. Lance will write up the Bob Nelson memorial for the Empty Saddles presentation. Erin will do the write up for Alicia Thoman. The Junior Barrels will follow the Ladies Barrel Race. Rules for the Junior Barrels were clarified.  Rick Croisant is donating pork butts for the pulled pork at the Concession stands. The Mechanical Bull and Bounce Houses will be available both nights of the Rodeo.

Drill Team:  Will be riding both nights at the Rodeo and Friday night, July 21, at the Fair.

Fair:   The Concordia FFA will use our Arena for  Mutton Busting on Saturday morning July 20th . The Open horse Show will be Sunday, July 23, and the 4-H show will be Friday July 21.

Arena report: Everything looks good. Thanks to Rick for mowing, Lance for spraying, and everyone who helped get ready for the Rodeo.

Old Business:  The Modern Woodman grant has been received. Many thanks to Tammy Forshee.

We still have hats for sale at $15 each. Contact Brenda Lagasse if you want one.

New Business: There was no new business presented.

The meeting adjourned and ice cream and goodies were enjoyed by all.  Thank you to Donna Barleen for supplying the ice cream.
