July 2022 Meeting Notes
Minutes July 3, 2022
The meeting was called to order by President Ritchie Farrell. Secretary Marleen Parker read the minutes, which were approved as read. Treasurer Brenda Lagasse did not have a current report.
Ritchie noted that there is still a lot of work to be done before the Rodeo, and we will need volunteers for the concession stand as well as the Rodeo
Old Business:
Plans for the Rodeo were discussed.
Erin reported that ticket sales were up, and that one of the Queen candidates dropped out.
The sign on the North side of town has been put up, and the dates on the sign South of town have been changed.
The “empty saddles” presentation is being finalized.
Practice for the Grand Entry will be Thursday night. Charlie is in charge.
The truck and barrel covers are arranged. Eric is in charge of the Junior Barrel Races and the younger kids will run Saturday, the older kids on Friday.
Ritchie has arranged for 8 volunteers from the Cowboy Church in Abilene. They will help where needed.
We will need more help at the gates. Gate help needs to be here at 6pm.
Eric will bring auxiliary lights for the arena. We might not need them with the new lights, but we’ll be prepared.
Josh Cornett will donate 25 bales of hay for the stock.
A second nacho cheese dispenser is being located, last year we used one that Jaime Wheeler borrowed.
Brenda bought supplies for the concession stand. Concession prices will go up, as the cost has risen. Donna will make the signs. The Bennington Bank has agreed to supply up to 500 bottles of water. The new refrigerator is in place and works fine.
Lance has calves for the calf scramble.
The Horsemanship portion of the Queen Contest will be Friday at 6:30 with the meal following.
New Business:
The Cloud County Fair Open Horse Show will be July 16. Aggie needs volunteers to help.
The CYRA Rodeo will be July 30-31. We will need volunteers for the concession stand.
The meeting adjourned, and we all ate ice cream and watched fireworks.
