January 2009 Meeting Notes

President Scott Studt opened the meeting at 8:20 pm with seven members present. The previous month’s minutes were read and approved. The treasurer reported the checking and the savings.

Cynthia Weber sent copies of the financial report for 2008. Our total income was stated as well as total expenses and net income. A motion passed to pay the bill for the Kansas Horse Council annual membership for the Club.

In unfinished business Scott reminded us that he will continue looking into the arena policy to make it more user friendly.

New business:

Lance had spoke with Brad Berk about the Fairboard planning on us having the Rodeo during the fair. The dates are Wednesday, July 8th and Thursday, July 9th. Lance will contact Jimmy to set the date with him.

Aggie reported going to the arena with Justin Brown who is interested in doing work at the arena for a Senior Project, possibly finishing putting sealant on the bleachers and painting the old ones. Scott mentioned that we had boards that needed replacing before having him paint.

We discussed having some beginners’ clinics to get kids interested in ropings and basic riding. A motion passed to have Aggie Moore and Katie Revell talk to Tammy Forshee to see if she might be interested in leading a clinic.

Charlie will lead a trail ride Sunday, January 11th leaving Kristy’s at 1:00 pm and traveling to the river to ride.

The meeting adjourned at 8:55 pm.
