February 2014 Meeting Notes
Meeting was called to order by President Aggie Moore with 14 members present.
Minutes were read and approved
Treasurer reported checking and savings.
No bills were presented. Four members paid their dues for 2014.
Report from Board of Directors: They are going to meet on February 16th at the NCK Saddle Club Arena.
Special Guest, Steve Lindsay presented about the Back Country Horsemen of America Kansas Chapter. The group is for the enjoyment of horses in America’s back country. They work to ensure that public lands remain open. Membership is $40 for individuals, $45 for family, and $50 affiliate (clubs and associations). Members will receive a e-newsletter. There is an organizational meeting on Saturday, March 8th at the Ramada Convention Center (1616 W. Crawford, Salina, KS) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Registration is $25 and includes lunch.
Lana made a motion to have the NCK Saddle Club to join the Back Country Horsemen of America for $50 with the e-newsletter to be posted on the website. Donna Barleen seconded the motion and the motion passed.
NATRC event, Heartland Challenge Ride August 28-31 at Kanopolis State Park a 90 mile, three-day ride, challenge. There is an Competitive Open Class.

New Business
Greg Lehmann brought his research of hiring a Rodeo Clown for the NCK Saddle Club Rodeo. He has priced some for $1,000 per performance and thought that the Fairboard would pay up to $500. He was asked to find more information and pursue a clown until next meeting and the club will vote.
The panels were discussed as to how to mark them. It was decided to spray paint a line across all of them.
Building Committee to meet on Saturday, March 1st.
A motion was made to allow the NCK Saddle Club *Drill Team* Freedom Riders Facebook group to stay. The motion was approved.
The Drill Team need help to run their fundraiser on February 22nd.
Donna brought up the idea of having a equine chiropractor come out to the arena. It was also suggested to have a saddle fit and/or farriers.
Neil was asked to purchase three liability signs at $30 each for the arena.
