April 2014 Meeting Notes
Meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President Aggie Moore.
Minutes were read and approved and the treasurer’s report read. Bills presented to the treasurer were the padlocks for the chains on the panels, EKHA show timers, and flowers for Gene Hansen’s funeral.
Rodeo Queen Committee:
There are three contestants already. June 14th is the meeting and photo session. It was brought up that instead of using sponsors to get gift cards, the club will donate a bucket of grooming things. Donna Barleen was asked to judge and continue with the points system.
Promotions Committee:
Better Horses Network offered us a deal for $500 to run two quarter page ads on both online and in print and 14 radio ads on KRFM. Eric Voss made a motion to go with the $500 package advertising funny man Gizmo McKracken. Ritchie Farrell seconded the motion and the motion passed.
It was brought up to have another shirt order with the possibility of sweatshirts and bags. Also to have a swap for outgrown shirts.

NBHA is wanting to use our arena on Saturday, June 14th, we will charge them $100 arena fee and they need someone to operate a tractor from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, May 6th at the arena 6:30 p.m. work night and 8:00 p.m. meeting.
It was discussed to have a second Health Fair in September.
Kids’ Saddle Series wrapped up with Hayden Losh winning the saddle, Brittney Kennedy in second, and Kyra Voss in third.
New Business
Guest Speaker: Kenny Nelson
He discussed a trail ride along the Oregon Trail by Westmoreland, KS. It will be a 3-day trail ride from June 26th to June 28th. It will be filmed for a documentary and it is requested that participants be in western attire only. Registration fee is to be discussed.
It was brought up to cover the 1-800 number on the arena signs as they are no longer valid for the signs.
Concessions:
KRRA on Saturday, April 19th Lana said she would do it
Barrel Race on Thursday night Lana said she would run it. She is also needing workers for the gate and barrels.
The contract for Gizmo McCracken has been signed.
Concession Stand Building:
Earl Hale found a building for $500 and rodeo tickets. The building dimensions are 15′ by 20′, which is 4′ shorter and 1′ narrower than previously discussed. The plan is to add 4′ to the length for storage and add a roof which will cover the 24′ by 24′ concrete slab. Katie Lehmann made a motion to purchase the building. Jeremiah Specht seconded it and the motion passed with two opposed. Brenda Losh made a motion for the building to be on the North side of the arena. There was no second. The motion died. Bruce Brown will check about permits for graywater storage.
The meeting adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
