October 2014 Meeting Notes

The meeting was called to order by President Aggie Moore. There were no minutes.

Treasurer report: Rodeo reported as well as the checking and savings.

Lance reported that 3 loads of sand had been put on the indoor arena.

A bill had been received from Central Kansas Electric for electric poles in the amount of $1,478.21 passed on by the fairboard asking if we would contribute to the bill. Meters on the pole have been placed in the Saddle Club’s name. The plugs are placed in a manner as to make most of them unusable. Earl Hale will go to the fair board meeting to try to get a clear explanation. A motion was made for Earl to propose to the fair board that we give $500 for the electric pole and they take the meter out of our name and change the plugs to meet our specifications. Motion seconded and passed.

Lana presented bills for Drill Team flags.

Donna presented bills for supplies used in the Kids’ Buckle Series races.

Motion to pay bills approved.

A bill presented for $300 for a belt buckle for the CPRA finals that we sponsored. Approved.

Committee reports:

Activities: Kids races are well-attended and going well.

Oct. 26 will be a playday at the arena with a costume contest. Cash prizes will be awarded. It was suggested that we ask Jessica LeDuc from the Blade Empire to take pictures for the paper and to judge the contest.

Charlie will be having a trail ride on the 12th

Oct. 11: Ashton Shepherd is bringing a youth group to the arena for horse rides. Anyone with well-broke horses is asked to come help.

Katie reported that on Nov 15 at 1 pm, Kenny Ray will have an informational meeting on reining followed by a small competition with youth and adult riders.

Drill Team: Drill Team added to the name of the team. It will now be called “The NCK Saddle Club Drill Team American Freedom Riders” to avoid confusion with other teams also named Freedom Riders.

Concessions: Brenda Lagasse has a list of supplies needed for the concession stand. Anyone wishing to donate can check with her on what is needed.

Unfinished business: A sink and deep freezer need to be removed from the old 4-H building.

Two blue stock tanks are to be returned to Bill Ramsey. Only one tank is at the arena. Lance will talk to him and see that the tank is returned.

New Business: Abilene Cowboy Church helped with the rodeo. It was suggested we make a donation to the church as a thank-you gesture. Decision tabled until next meeting.

Meeting adjourned.
